Pops pizza is a Quincy staple and is located on 10th and Maine.
UPDATED
The building is very old, we learned from another patron who remembered that it used to be a tire shop way back in the day, but the interior is newly re-done and really nice. The east wall has some big windows on it, making the high tables right by them prime seating because you get a great view of Maine Street. There are a few flat screens up on the walls so you can watch something while you eat.
This place brings me back to the year in high school when I worked at a family owned pizza joint. It’s got that mom and pop feel to it, and some of the pizza even tastes very similar. The buffet is small, but so is the dining area, so there is always lots of fresh pizza coming out
Pops has a big menu of specialty pizzas, and you can try a lot of them during their buffet. My favorites are spinach and feta, margherita, and BBQ chicken. They’ve also got a delicious supreme, veggie, and taco pizza. There is always a nice mix of pizza on the buffet, thin and thick, meat and meatless, as well as a salad bar and a few pasta choices. I always skip the salad bar, its all iceburg anyways, and dive right into the good stuff. The garlic breadsticks are decent; they have a very mild flavor so you'll want to dip them in some of the red sauce provided. When we're done gorging on the pizza, we always wait for them to bring out cinnamon sticks fresh from the oven (sometimes you gotta ask), complete with icing.
The buffet is a really good deal, and the rest of the menu looks tasty as well. If you’ve never eaten at Pops, I suggest you come in for the Thursday night buffet or have some pizza delivered.
UPDATE: The second Chophouse Hijack took place at Pop's on Wednesday October 14th, and Quincy Magazine was there broadcasting the event live! The event was a huge success, the place was packed wall to wall for the entire night and there were some great live performances by DJ Car Thief, a local acid jazz DJ, as well as a local comedian. WGEM even stopped by to interview the organizer, Clinton Begley. This time we remembered to snag a picture of the pizza.
