Quincy, IL Restaurant Reviews

Greek To Me is a nice little Greek restaurant right in the heart of downtown Quincy.

The interior was manicured and void of any decorations, the walls were wrapped with advertisements for their wholesalers, but the booths looked very new and everything was clean. Our booth had a nice view of the open kitchen, where we saw the gyro meat spinning vertically on skewers.

Another patron ordered something that was finished tableside, with some alcohol and a very big flame. I ordered a gyro dinner which came with some bland rice and a very pleasant Greek salad. The salad had a nice strong oily vinaigrette, a generous topping of salty and tangy crumbled feta, some finely diced red onion, and a few Kalamata olives. Its only shortcoming was the shredded iceberg lettuce. The gyro was loaded with meat on a nice thick pita, but was a little stingy with the vegetables. The tzatziki yogurt and cucumber sauce that came with it was creamy and refreshing.

Overall there were some nice authentic Greek flavors, but done in a way in which most Americans can relate to. If you’re not familiar with Greek food or haven’t had it in a while, make plans to check out Greek To Me.
