A typically named Chinese restaurant serving typical American-Chinese fare. Unlike other Chinese restaurants, Best Buffet offers fresh sushi, made-to-order stir fry, steak, and Blue Bunny ice cream, making it one of the best value buffets I’ve ever been to.
The ambiance at Best Buffet is clean and casual. There is a charming garden in the entryway, with running water and live fish. Inside there is lots of seating, plenty of booths, tidy buffet tables, and really nice bathrooms. The service is friendly, quick with drink refills, and most importantly, give you plenty of napkins without having to ask.
I would suggest, especially if it’s your first time visiting, that you fight the urge to pile your first plate full of the expected fried, thick, or saturated items, and head to the stir fry in the back. One plate of this stuff alone is worth the price of the buffet. Fill your plate as high as you can with noodles, fresh veggies, and fresh beef. The cook behind the counter will stir fry your plate while you watch. Don’t forget to try the steak or pork chops while you’re back there.
If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s also a sushi bar in the back complete with wasabi. Be sure to tip the sushi chef if you have multiple pieces, as you’re severely underpaying for sushi.
The standard American-Chinese dishes, such as beef and broccoli, spare ribs, and sesame chicken, are nothing special. The Mongolian beef and General Tso’s chicken are my favorite. I’ve had better fried rice, egg rolls, and crab rangoon at other restaurants.
For dessert they have lots of fresh fruit, cookies and other baked goods, but the Blue Bunny ice cream is a must and is something quite unexpected at a place like this.
Best Buffet is a great quick meal or last minute decision, yet also good enough for a special occasion. I’ve never seen another restaurant turn tables like they do there. Even when the line is out the door, you’ll never wait long to eat.
